DESCRIPTION: Mvt only - H.W. Smith, Boston, Mass marked on dial and mvt, 15J, 46mm, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#13. Comes with key. Hiram W. Smith was a watchmaker and watch material supplier that was active for a number of years in the Boston area. This elegant bridge model movement ebauche is believed to have been supplied to Smith by Piguet Freres of Switzerland with some of its finishing elements likely then executed by Smith within his Boston workshop. There is some excellent historical information on Smith as well as photos of two very similar movements (s#10 and s#11) found within the February 2005 NAWCC Bulletin article "George P. Reed and Hiram W. Smith, Two of Greater Boston's Individual Watchmakers" by Gerrit A. Nijssen. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO...
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with few fine and micro-fine scratches, missing case screw; near flawless dial has only few micro-fine surface scratches; excellent hands with some small bits of finish loss.
